This program provides ethical gifts abroad to further sustainable development in developing nations.

As part of Ontario Energy Group’s support of Plan these efforts, the Mississauga-based home services provider has helped Plan Canada to raise over $4,000 for the goal of providing clean water and sustainable sewage facilities for families and children.

More than just a gift, these clean water initiatives serve to train and educate communities to preserve their water resources so they can be passed down to future generations. These gifts don’t just provide material resources, but the assurance of a higher standard of living and better conditions for health and sanitation where these institutions had been previously lacking.

According to UNESCO and UN-sponsored water studies, over 783 million individuals worldwide have insufficient access to clean water for drinking and bathing. Over 1 billion people worldwide have insufficient sanitation and sewage, which put them at risk for waterborne disease and illness.

For many children in developing societies, access to clean water is difficult and may require long hours of travel and labor to get these resources. Ontario Energy Group’s commitment to aiding these communities includes providing them with clean wells and specialized sewage containment to prevent contamination of precious water resources.

That’s why Ontario Energy Group has chosen to stand alongside Plan Canada’s efforts abroad, in the hope that sustainable access to basic necessities such as water and sanitation will lead to greater prosperity here and abroad.
